Mental Health Interventions: Pre and Post Disaster

Wed, April 15, 2015; 11:45 - 13:00
Location: SBS, Seminar 9

The World Health Organization estimates approximately 260 million people are suffering from post-traumatic stress injuries. Globally, mental health services are often inadequate or nonexistent. Innovative mental health interventions are needed to reduce suffering in both children and adults that take into consideration communal-based cultures and ones that are not psychologically oriented. What are the interventions that can be: adapted to different cultures? applied to individuals across the lifespan? offered in group settings for communities? What are recommendations that you would like to bring to this discussion?
