The city of dreaming spires, Oxford is 56 miles (90km) north-west of London, with excellent bus and rail services and has a population of approximately 180,000. Ancient and beautiful buildings dominate the city. It is strongly identifiable as a university town, with its medieval college architecture serving 30,000 students. You are responsible for making your own reservations at one of the many hotels, hostels, B&Bs, apartments, or College dorms in Oxford. Oxford is very well serviced with trains, buses and taxis. In most cases, you will want to walk between Forum venues and your accommodations. We do not recommend a car due to a lack of parking facilities in the city centre. Please note: a taxicab from Heathrow airport to Oxford can cost upwards of $100-$150 USD each way.
Motorcoach from Heathrow to Oxford is approximately a 90 minute ride and the most economical way to travel to the Skoll World Forum. Coach from Gatwick to Oxford is approximately 2 – 2.5 hour ride.

Parking in the city centre is limited and there is no parking at Saïd Business School. Visitors are recommended to use one of Oxford’s four Park & Ride services. What to Pack
British weather is notorious for its unpredictability, so we advise that you come prepared to experience more than one weather front! The temperature is likely to be 10°-16° Celsius (50°- 60° Fahrenheit) during the day and down to 5° Celsius (40° Fahrenheit) in the evening. It is a good idea to pack a raincoat, an umbrella and a warm jacket. To check the current weather, click here.
Dress is professional. You will be seated for much of the day in presentations and lectures, or standing and socializing, so please do dress to be comfortable.
Also, please bring comfortable walking shoes. This is a walking city, and while most of our events will take place at Said Business School, the rest will be within an easy 10 – 15 minute walk.
