Imam Talib Abdur-Rashid of the Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood spoke briefly and eloquently. Some excerpts:
Human rights are sacred rights. Poverty is a WMD.  Human rights violations are sacred rights violations.  Are we not each of us responsible for the life and rights of every single human being? Moses, Jesus and Mohammed (peace be unto each of them) were each human rights defenders.  Martin Luther King once said the problem with many religious leaders is they too often function like the taillights of a vehicle rather than the headlights. Perhaps what comes from this forum is not policy, but an appeal to all religious leaders.
